Hi Friends, it’s been one of my goals to make 2018 a year where I am content. I’ve been stepping out of my zone by making myself a priority and learning not to be a people pleaser. Besides that, there are many other things I’ve been doing along the way to further my wellness so I’m going to share it with you.
1. Drink more water
I have been drinking 2 liters of water a day in my quest to be happier. Believe it or not, there are studies that shows that your mood can be improved by consuming more water. So drink up my friends!
2. Eat more vegetables and healthier meals
It’s a given that healthy food improves not just physical health but mental as well. I’ve experienced this with the lack of bloating and tiredness I feel after eating a salad as opposed to a slice of pizza!
3. Using less plastic
You may wonder why using less plastic have to do with happiness? Pollution, of course. The less plastic we use, the less we contribute waste to the environment! So as small as it may seem, it feels good to know that I’m making the world a better place to live. Check out my post on simple things you can do to create less waste.
4. Going for walks
Taking walks helps to have a clear mind and appreciate the small things in life. Naturally, the best place to take a walk would be in a park or by the sea. There’s nothing like the feeling of being immersed by nature’s beauty.
5. Going to bed early
I’ve always been a night person. I’m one of those people that would stay up all night to binge watch a show and sleep away the next day. Going to bed early taught me to be wise with my time and make the best out of the day.
6. Not dwelling on mistake
Dwelling on things that didn’t go the way you hoped for is a mood killer. Learn how to focus on paving a better future, not past mistakes.
7. Buy flowers for yourself
Fresh flowers are guaranteed to make you happy. Start buying fresh flowers to make your day a little brighter.
8. Not procrastinating
Procrastination is a bad habit to break but learning to decrease your procrastination leads to less worries and a relaxation of the mind.
9. Being in a clean space
My mood always seems to be off when my room is dirty. So I find that cleaning up and having a tidy room gives me clarity and a peace of mind.
10. Start journaling
The same way that writing a to do list helps to let go of your worries, the same effect it can have if you write about your day. Every Friday, I publish a journaling series called Rainy days and coffee talk. Come journal along with me!
11. Listen to uplifting music
Music is a gift to the soul and a mood lifter. Listen to music with positive messages and soft beats to help you relax.
12. Take a mental health day regularly
It’s important to make mental health a priority. So when you start feeling overwhelmed by your daily tasks, put it in your calendar to take a self care day. Read my post on why mental health days are important.
13. Plan activities to look forward to
It’s a fact that if you have something fun to look forward to, your mood gets better as that day approaches. Start planning more so you have something to look forward to.
14. Stop doubting yourself
We all have those days where we feel bad about ourselves and our abilities. When that does happen, read some positive quotes and believe in your heart that good things will come.
15. Be proud of where you are
Quit comparing yourself to others and accept where you are in life. You are not there by mistake as every season teaches it’s own lessons. And maybe you’re not ready for that thing you really want. So until then, enjoy where you are now.
